Moose Jaw’s eight-game winning streak ended on Saturday with a 4-3 loss to the Prince Albert Raiders at the Art Hauser Centre.

In the opening moments of the game, the Warriors had the Raiders pinned. They came across the Prince Albert line with speed and their fore-check was physical and relentless on the boards.

Prince Albert weathered the storm early and then as the period went on, they were able to slow the Warriors down with active sticks in the neutral zone.

At 15:36, the Warriors failed to get the puck out of their zone, which allowed the Raiders to set up a shot for Jordy Stallard, who was driving towards the net and inside the left circle that found the back of the net to give them a 1-0 lead.

Moose Jaw found their legs to start the second period and at 1:29, Ryan Peckford deflected a point shot from Kale Clague for his 17th goal of the year to tie the game at one.

There was a lot of emotion throughout the second period, which led to a pair of power plays for both teams.

At 13:41, the Raiders picked up a power play goal from Curtis Miske to go back out in front, but the Warriors were able to respond just under two minutes later, when Justin Almeida scored on the man advantage.

Prince Albert got momentum back after the late Warriors goal, when Stallard notched his second of the game under minute later to give the Raiders a 3-2 lead going into the intermission.

Moose Jaw had early opportunities for an equalizer, but weren’t able to convert, instead they found themselves down by two after Prince Albert picked up a power play goal from Kody McDonald at 7:55.

Inside the final two minutes of regulation, the Warriors pulled their goalie for an extra attacker and the gamble paid off as they clawed back to within one after a goal from Jett Woo with 1:22 left in the game.

In the final moments, the Warriors pressed, but weren’t able to pick up a late goal and ended up falling for the first time in regulation since December 15th.
