It’s Hall of Fame Weekend for the Moose Jaw Warriors.

While the organization focuses on honouring the past, the present has become a test for the Warriors, who now sit tied with the Swift Current Broncos for first place in the Western Hockey League after a 4-2 loss at the Credit Union Ipex on Wednesday.

The Warriors have dropped three of their last four games for their first extended stretch of struggles this season. However the confidence remains for the team that has rolled over the competition all throughout the season.

“Wednesday was a good step in the right direction for us, getting our compete level back and working hard like that, I thought we had lots of opportunities and just a couple of bounces either way it could have been a different game,” said forward Tanner Jeannot.

Two of the Warriors’ losses over the past week have come at the hands of the Regina Pats, who took two out of three meetings between the arch rivals last week.

With five straight wins over the Pats before that this season, the team knows that they’re capable of beating Regina, but just need to put that to fruition again.

“We love playing in these games, the highway rivalry is always fun for us, the crowd is always in it, so we’re going to be ready to go,” said Jeannot. “We’ve played them three times in a row last week, so we know what they’e coming with and we’re going to be prepared for them and we’re going to be coming out with the effort like we had in Swift Current.”

With the top of the East Division tightening up between the Warriors and Broncos, and the Pats wanting to continue to show that they can hang with the division’s top teams, Jeannot said they know how important it is for them to return to form.

“Every game from now on is just like a playoff game and we’re going in with a process to win those tight games and every game we’re going to be building on that process,” said Jeannot.

The Warriors will be inducting Jason Fitzsimmons, Rob Reimer and builder Toby Tobias into the Warriors and Legends Hall of Fame on Friday night.

Jeannot said it’s important for the team to learn from the organizations past, “This is always a special weekend for us, getting to hear the stories of these great players getting inducted and seeing the history that’s here with this team, it’s pretty special to feel that connected with everyone and it makes me feel proud to be a part of this organization,” he said.

The three inductees will be honoured before Saturday night’s game against the Pats at Mosaic Place. Puck drops at 7 p.m. and the Pre-Game Show is on the air on Country 100 at 6:40 p.m.
