Saturday, the Moose Jaw Warriors battled the Prince Albert Raiders hard and came up short falling 3-2 at Mosaic Place.

The Warriors picked up an early 5-on-3 power play but they weren’t able to capitalize.  Instead, Prince Albert was able to spring Ozzy Wiesblatt for a breakaway where he picked up the game’s first goal.

With under five minutes left in the frame, 17-year-old Peyton McKenzie dug the puck off the Raiders left wall and slid it to the top of the circle for Drae Gardiner who put a wrist shot to the back of the net to tie the game at one.

Prince Albert took a 2-1 lead with a goal from Ilya Usau with three and a half minutes left in the period.

With under four minutes remaining in the second period, the Raiders added to their lead on an odd-man rush when Justin Nachbaur set up Evan Herman driving to the Moose Jaw net.

The Warriors came out hard in the third period and had Prince Albert pinned for the majority of the early goings of the frame.

At 5:23, Eric Alarie picked up a loose puck inside the Raiders zone and tossed down to Carson Denomie inside the right circle.  Denomie dangled around one Raider and then put a back-hand top shelf to pull Moose Jaw to within one.

Moose Jaw kept pushing throughout the third period and outshot the Raiders 13-7.  They had several quality chances in the final moments of the game but weren’t able to pick up an equalizer and fell 3-2.

On the power-play, Moose Jaw was 0-for-7 and the Raiders were 0-for-6.

In net, Jackson Berry made 27 saves while the Raiders Boston Bilous made 28.
