The Moose Jaw Warriors reached 40 wins on the season after blanking the Swift Current Broncos 6-0 in their regular-season finale on Saturday night at Mosaic Place.

Brodan Salmond made 22 saves for his second shutout of the season, while Warriors' Player of the Year Tristin Langan finished with two goals and three points, and Justin Almeida had a goal and three points.

In the first period, the Warriors outshot the Broncos 15-8, but the game remained scoreless.

Only 40 seconds into the second period the Warriors got onto the scoreboard, Luke Ormsby broke up a Bronco clearing attempt at the Swift Current left blue-line and moved the puck down the wall to Carson Denomie, the Regina product then ripped a shot over Broncos goalie Riley Lamb for his eighth goal of the season.

Moose Jaw went up by two while working on the power-play with under two minutes left in the period, Jett Woo had the puck at the blue-line and dished it off to Josh Brook who then put a pass to the top of the Broncos crease where Langan knocked in his team-leading 52nd goal.

Just six minutes into the third period, Langan fought the puck away from the Broncos on their end-boards and set up Almeida on top of the Swift Current crease where he scored his 33rd of the season.

On the power-play with under four minutes left in the game, Langan scored his second of the game and 53rd of the season to put the Warriors up by four.

Inside the final minute of regulation, the Warriors added goals from Kjell Kjemhus and Daemon Hunt and went on to a one-sided 6-0 win. Hunt's goal came with one second left in regulation and sparked a fight between the two teams, which saw Langan and Kjemhus receive game misconducts and Brook giving a double-minor for spearing and a 10-minute misconduct.

Carson Denomie had a goal and two points, while Jett Woo and Luke Ormsby added two assists each.

Moose Jaw outshot the Broncos 45-22 and they were 2-for-3 on the power-play and 3-for-3 on the penalty kill.

The Warriors finish the regular season in third place in the East Division with a record of 40-20-6-2. They’ll now prepare to open the 2019 WHL Playoffs next weekend when they head to Saskatoon for Games 1 and 2 against the Blades.
