Four Moose Jaw Warriors identified by NHL Central Scouting are anxiously waiting to see if their names will be called at this weekend’s NHL Entry Draft.

Yorkton’s Ryder Korczak was the top-ranked Warrior heading into the draft in the 34th spot central scouting’s final rankings.

The centerman had 16 points in 17 games in the Hub this past season. He has 98 points in 132 games in his WHL career, which was split between the Calgary Hitmen and the Warriors.

Left winger Eric Alarie, a Winnipeg product, is listed at 51st in the NHL Central Scouting Rankings.

Alarie had 20 points in 19 games last season in the Hub, while amassing 41 points in his career with the Warriors.

Further down the list, defensemen Cole Jordan is listed at 88 and Max Wanner at 223.

Jordan said he's been getting advice from former Moose Jaw Warrior Luka Burzan. Burzan was selected as an over-aged player in the sixth round, 171st overall, in the 2019 draft to the Colorado Avalanche.

"He went through the process twice. He ended up getting picked the second time through there so he’s been one guy that I've leaned on for some advice," Jordan said.

Wanner said he’s been in contact with a few NHL teams in the last few months heading into the draft.

“I think my size and my ability to skate with the puck and make good first passes are very desirable for many teams,” he said.

Wanner added that getting drafted into the NHL would be a dream come true.

“That's every kid's dream so it would mean the world to me. Obviously, it's a start, but it would be very rewarding.”

The draft will be held on Friday and Saturday from the NHL Network Studios in Secaucus, New Jersey.
