The Vanier Vikings are hoping to finish off the regular season strong this week and they got just the start that they were looking for on Tuesday.

The Vikings picked up an 80-41 win over the Assiniboia Rockets to improve to 5-2 this season in the Moose Jaw High School Senior Basketball League.

"We had good passing and movement, so it was a good game," said Vanier guard Kyle Gotana. "Every team has to keep going up and we've just got to keep grinding and improving."

Gotana had five points in the win for the Vikings, while Javan Panko picked up 19 points and Riley Follensbee scored 14.

Assiniboia drops to 1-6 with the loss. They were led by Derek Beaubien with 12 points.

In the girls game, the Spirits pulled off a 60-30 win over the Rockets. Vanier is now 2-5, while Assiniboia drops to 0-7.

Out in Caronport, the Peacock Toilers were able to sweep the B.C.A. Cougars, winning 71-52 in the girls' game and 74-68 in the boys' games. The Peacock girls are 7-0 this season, while the boys are 4-3. The Cougar girls drop to 4-4 and the boys are 1-7.

The final four games of the regular season are set for Thursday, Peacock is hosting Vanier for a girls game at 6:20 p.m. and the boys tip off at 8 p.m., while the Central Cyclones head to Assiniboia to face the Rockets at 5:50 p.m. (girls) and 7:30 p.m. (boys).
