The Moose Jaw High School Senior Volleyball League hosted five games at three gyms in and around the Friendly City on Tuesday night.

At Cornerstone, the Falcons beat the Briercrest Christian Academy Cougars in three sets (25-19, 25-13, 27-25) in the boys game. The win improves Cornerstone’s record to 4-3 this season, while the Cougars drop to 0-5.

Cornerstone and BCA went back-and-forth in the girls game with the Cougars pulling out a five-set win (17-25, 16-25, 25-23, 25-22, 15-13). The Cougars improve to 4-2 with the win, while the Falcons drop to 1-6.

Over at Peacock, it was a battle of the top two teams in the senior girls’ league with the Toilers securing a four-set win (25-17, 25-20, 30-32, 25-20) over the Vanier Spirits. The win improves Peacock to 8-1 this season, while Vanier falls to 4-2.

The boys game saw the Vanier Vikings stay undefeated this season as they cruised to a three-set win (25-18, 25-19, 25-9) over Peacock. The Vikings are now 6-0, while the Toilers drop to 1-5.

The Central Cyclones travelled out to Avonlea on Tuesday and went toe-to-toe with the host Eagles over a five-set battle.

Avonlea pulled out a 29-27 win in the first set before Central struck back with a 25-23 and 25-21 wins in the next two sets. The Eagles finished off the win with a 25-18 win in the fourth set and a 16-14 win in the fifth set.

The win improves Avonlea’s record to 4-3, while Central falls to 4-3.

The league returns to the court on Thursday with the Central girls hosting Cornerstone at 7 p.m. The Moose Jaw Invitational senior boys volleyball tournament goes this weekend as well.
