There was some movement in the Moose Jaw High School Senior Boys Basketball League on Tuesday night.

The Peacock Toilers came out on top in their big showdown with the Central Cyclones, winning 89-55, to hand Central their first loss of the season and allow Peacock and Vanier to jump into top spot in the league.

Peacock and Vanier, who also won 72-66 over the Riverview/Cornerstone Falcons, both sit tied for first place at 4-1 after Tuesday’s action, while Central sits two points back at 3-1.

Jett Kowalchuk and Riley Herridge led the Toilers in their win over Central, posting 18 points each, while Luke Dombowsky chipped in with 12 points.

Cody Moore had a team-high 13 points in the loss for Central.

At Cornerstone, Riley Follensbee led the charge for Vanier in the win with a team-high 18 points. The Vikings had four players score in double digits to pace the offence.

Jacob Pilon posted a game-high 23 points in the loss for the Falcons.

Down in Assiniboia, the Rockets improved to 2-3 with a 93-84 win over the Caronport Cougars. Logan Fettes went off for 34 points in the win for the Rockets, while Ethan Douglas put up 25 in the loss for Caronport.

Next league action next Tuesday will see Peacock host the Caronport Cougars, while the Vikings and Cyclones meet in a big game at Central and the Falcons host Assiniboia at Riverview as they reopen their gym following flood damage.

Toilers Remain Undefeated in Girls League

The Peacock Toilers put together a big win on Tuesday night, rolling over the Central Cyclones, 76-32, to improve their record to 4-0 on the year.

The loss drops Central to 2-2.

Piper Ingalls led the charge for the Toilers with 14 points, while Katherine McDougall chipped in with 13. Ashlyn Jesse had eight points in the loss for Central.

In other action, the Assiniboia Rockets (1-3) scored a 77-44 victory over the Caronport Cougars (0-4) for their first win of the season.

Natasha Pomrenke poured in a game-high 28 points in the win for Assiniboia. Raquelle Gibbons scored 14 in the loss for Caronport.
