Brayden Tracey, Daemon Hunt and Team Canada locked up first place in Group A coming out of the weekend at the 2019 IIHF Under-18 World Championship in Sweden.

Tracey and Hunt both picked up an assist in Canada's 11-1 win over Yegor Buyalski and Belarus on Sunday. The win improved Canada to 3-0, while Belarus dropped to 2-1.

Buyalski was held off the score sheet for the first time in the tournament after picking up two goals and four points over Belarus' first two games.

Lethbridge Hurricanes forward Dylan Cozens led Canada with two goals and five points in the win, while Victoria Grizzlies forward Alex Newhook finished with two goals and three points. Baie-Comeau's Nathan Legare also scored twice and Kootenay Ice forward Peyton Krebs had a goal and two points.

Kamloops Blazers forward Connor Zary opened the scoring 4:24 into the game, Moncton defenceman Jordan Spence made it 2-0 with 6:24 left in the first and Newhook's first with three seconds left in the period gave Canada a 3-0 lead after one.

Newhook, Legare, Cozens, Krebs and Brandon Wheat Kings defenceman Braden Schneider scored during a five-goal second period, while Vitali Pinchuk picked up Belarus' lone goal with 1:11 left in the middle frame.

Cozens, Legare, and Sherbrooke forward Samuel Poulin finished off the win in the third for Canada.

Canada fired 60 shots on Belarus' net during the win, while Saskatoon Blades goalie Nolan Maier made 41 saves in his first start for Team Canada.

The Canadians finish the round robin against the Czech Republic on Tuesday. Belarus battles Switzerland on Monday.
