The golf world will descend on Saskatchewan at the end of August when the CP Canadian Women's Open comes to the province for the first time.

The LPGA Tour's annual stop in Canada will be played at the Wascana Country Club in Regina this year. The event will feature 92 of the top-100 on the LPGA’s money list this season.

"It's going to be great, it's going to be world class, the best in the world and I'm just happy to play with them every single week, but it will be fun to showcase it for everyone here in Regina," said Canadian LPGA star Brooke Henderson, who has won six times on tour during her career, including at the Lotte Championship in April.

Henderson, along with Canadian Golf Hall of Fame inductee Lorie Kane, were in the Queen City on Monday to promote the event and will be taking part in the tournament, which will also include 14 of the 15 winners so far this year on the tour.

The Canadian Women's Open has alluded Henderson so far in her young career, but the 20-year-old said she’s excited for another shot in Regina this year.

"This course, the layout is awesome and I feel like I can play really well here, there's some unique things about it that make it really cool and will make it a little bit more fun and if the prairie winds come up, that's where the challenge will really present itself," said Henderson, who toured the course with the club pro on Monday.

"The winds can get really strong around here and it will make the course different. The LPGA girls will definitely have a challenge beating the wind and hopefully we can keep the ball low and have some good scores."

At the 2017 edition of the CP Women’s Open, Henderson fired a third round 63, which put her in contention heading into the final round, but she couldn't finish the deal.

Henderson said she really enjoys each time she gets to tee it up on her home soil.

"It's amazing to play in your national open, to be in front of the hometown crowd and everything about it so special and so meaningful," said Henderson. "I'm really a proud Canadian and to have the LPGA Tour, which people come from all corners of the world to play in, it's cool to show them what our country is all about."

While all eyes will be on Henderson as she looks to capture her first ever title at the national championship, there will be plenty of big names to watch at the event, including Thailand's Ariya Jutanugarn, who won the US Women's Open earlier this month and is the No. 2 ranked player in the world.

Three-time Canadian Women's Open champion Lydia Ko of New Zealand will also be in the field looking for her fourth title.

Last year's champion Sung Hyun Park, who was the LPGA's Rookie of the Year, will be back to defend her title as well.

Henderson said with so much talent in the field, they're hoping to inspire young golfers that may be in attendance for the event, just like she was inspired as a young golfer.

"Every little boy or little girl, I just try do that experience again that I received from Morgan Pressel and try to inspire them, motivate them to pick up the game of golf," she said.

There will be a fundraising aspect to the tournament as well as the CP Has Heart Charity Campaign will be making a substantial donation to the Jim Pattison Children's Hospital Foundation.

The inaugural CP Women's Leadership Summit will also be taking place during the tournament in Regina. The keynote speaker will be Saskatchewan’s own Hayley Wickenheiser and the summit will serve as an opportunity for businesswomen from across the country to meet for a day of networking, empowerment and philanthropy. The summit will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 21 at Hotel Saskatchewan.

The CP Women's Open runs Aug 20-26 in Regina.
