Experience will be on the Peacock Toilers' side heading into Hoopla 2019 in Saskatoon this weekend.

The Toilers' six seniors have won a provincial championship before and have been to Hoopla in each of their four seasons. That experience will something that Peacock will look to use to their advantage.

"We know the atmosphere going in, we have that experience of what it's going to be like and the intensity of it, so that's experience is going to help," said Peacock senior Emily MacKenzie on Thursday before leaving for Saskatoon.

Peacock put together another perfect season in the Moose Jaw High School Senior Girls Basketball League and they captured a ninth straight league championship last week.

The Toilers followed that up by beating the Central Cyclones, 71-40, in the regional championship game last weekend.

"I'm excited for one last go at basketball, be with the teammates one last time and make the last of the memories that we're going to make this season and hopefully come out with gold," said Peacock senior Megan MacDonald.

This year's Toilers team is a tight-knit group which shows on the court as they've been able to overcome injuries to key players and continue to play at a high level.

"Having chemistry between teammates as people and players makes everything better and helps communication," said MacDonald.

The Toilers will meet up with the Melfort Comets in the 4A Girls semi-final on Friday morning. Melfort heads in as the second ranked team, while Peacock was ranked third.

These two teams have met once this season in the final of the Moose Jaw Invitational with Melfort pulling out a one-point win in double overtime.

"That was a rough loss, but we proved a lot and it's going to be a good game," said MacKenzie.

"We have to shoot well, get the ball into our posts, play really tough D, really commit to the whole 40 minutes and just play our hearts out."

The Toilers and Comets tip-off at 11 a.m. on Friday in the provincial semi-final. The other semi-final has North Battleford squaring off Notre Dame at 12:45 p.m. The medal games will go on Saturday.

In the 3A Girls Division, the Briercrest Christian Academy Cougars enter Hoopla as the top ranked team. They will face the Melville Cobras in the semi-final on Friday at 4:15 p.m.
