The Moose Jaw Warriors put together an outstanding regular season and the honours are pouring in.

Three members of the Warriors’ organization were named Eastern Conference award winners on Wednesday by the Western Hockey League.

Jayden Halbgewachs is the big winner as he will look to become the second Warrior in the past three seasons to win the Four Broncos Memorial Trophy as the Player of the Year.

Halbgewachs led the entire CHL with 70 goals and 129 points this season.

“It’s obviously a huge honour, anytime that you’re recognized by the league is a huge honour and it just goes to show the year that I’ve had and the team’s had,” said Halbgewachs.

The Emerald Park product will be looking to follow in the footsteps of Dryden Hunt two seasons ago as the only Warrior to win the league’s top award.

Halbgewachs also picked up Bob Clarke Trophy as the WHL’s Top Scorer.

This season’s success didn’t happen overnight and Halbgewachs said he’s happy that the Warriors had patience with him during his development.

“They’ve been pretty patient here, I had a slow start to my career, but to come into my 20-year-old and receive these awards that I’m receiving is incredible,” he said. “Everyone develops at different ages and now I want to keep working harder to get better and better because it works.”

Halbgewachs will be up for the honour against Everett Silvertips goalie Carter Hart, who led the WHL in goals against average, save percentage and shutouts this season.

Defenceman Kale Clague posted 71 points in 54 games during his time with the Warriors and Brandon Wheat Kings this season. That production earned him the nod as the Eastern Conference Defenceman of the Year.

The 11 goals and 71 points were both career highs for Clague, who said he’s pleased with the year that he was able to put together.

“Going into the year, I wanted to have a good obviously and look to win another championship,” said Clague. “My teammates were great for me out in Brandon and helped me with my personal successes this year and then coming to Moose Jaw, it’s been unbelievable, but I think I still have a lot to prove here in Moose Jaw and I’m going to keep trying to play my best every night.”

Both Clague and Halbgewachs were named Eastern Conference first-team all stars, while Brayden Burke’s 113-point season was honoured with a second-team all-star nod.

Burke finished fourth in league scoring and said it’s nice to get some recognition from the league, “I wish I could have played in all the games, but it is what it is and I’m happy with what I got for sure,” he said.

“I’m excited to get out there and get Game 1 (of the playoffs) underway and see what the crowd will be like here in Moose Jaw, so it should be awesome.”

The person behind this year’s Warriors’ team, General Manager Alan Millar was also honoured on Wednesday as he was named the Eastern Conference Executive of the Year.

“It’s humbling, especially when it comes from your peers, the coaches and general managers in our conference that I have so much respect for,” said Millar. “It’s cliche, but this is certainly an organizational recognition, our players have had a great year, as well as our coaching staff led by Tim (Hunter) and our scouting staff led by Jason Ripplinger.”

Millar put the pieces in place for the Warriors to capture their first Scotty Munro Memorial Trophy as regular season champions. The team also won its fourth East Division title.

The team has broke a number of franchise records, including most wins in a season (52) and most points (109).

Millar added that it was great to see the entire team’s hard work recognized by the league.

“(Wednesday) was a very special day for our organization from top-to-bottom, the recognition that our players got, Burke, Halbgewachs and Clague, congratulations to them, but at the end of the day, there’s really only one focus right now and that’s the Ed Chynoweth Cup and we’re looking forward to getting started on that trail (Friday) night,” said Millar.

Warriors head coach Tim Hunter was snubbed in the Coach of the Year category as he was edged out by Swift Current Broncos coach Manny Viveros.

The Warriors will open their first round playoff series on Friday night when they host the Prince Albert Raiders at Mosaic Place.
