The Canadian Football League released the complete 2020 schedule, With the journey to the 108th Grey Cup hosted at Mosaic Stadium starting on November 22, 2020.

After starting their season on a bye, the Saskatchewan Roughriders will open their regular season at home against the Montreal Alouettes on Friday, June 19 at 7 p.m.

“The 2020 season is set to be a very memorable one for us here in Riderville,” said Roughriders President and CEO Craig Reynolds. “Not only will we be celebrating our Club’s 110th anniversary, but we’ll end the season by hosting the Grey Cup. We hope our fans are ready to join us for one of our most exciting years yet.”

The Roughriders’ regular-season home schedule will have them playing at Mosaic Stadium on Thursday (one game), Friday (two games), Saturday (five games) and Sunday (one game). With the exception of the B.C. Lions who will visit Regina twice, Every CFL team will visit Regina once.

The Club will host the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the annual Labour Day Classic on Sunday, September 6 slight change: a 5 p.m. kickoff.

The Roughriders’ away schedule will have them playing on the road on Thursday (two games), Friday (one game), Saturday (six games).

“We want to congratulate and acknowledge the CFL and the other eight teams for the cooperation and hard work it took to put this season’s schedule together,” Reynolds said. “We know our fans are excited to get planning for 2020 and we can’t wait to show them what we’ve been working on to make this season special.”

RIDER SCHEDULE NOTABLES:

The Green and White will showcase the 2020 hopefuls in their first pre-season game Friday, May 30 where they'll visit the Calgary Stampeders. The following week the Riders will host the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in their final pre-season match-up on Friday, June 5 at 7:30 p.m.
The home opener at Mosaic Stadium will be Friday, June 19 at 7 p.m. against the Montreal Alouettes. The last time the Riders faced the Alouettes in the home opener was 2010 and the Riders won 54-51.

The Riders will have a bye for the first week of the regular season. Last time the Riders had a first-week bye was in 2016. The team’s other two byes come in weeks six and 19.
The Roughriders will play six home games and three away games in the first half versus three at home and six away in the back nine.

They will play each team at home and away once with B.C. making an additional trip to Saskatchewan. The Riders will make a second trip to Edmonton to fill out the 18-game regular season.

The away game against Toronto will be played at a neutral site. It will be the first time since 2004 the Riders will not play in Toronto.

The team will play three Thursday night games, including one at home – July 30 vs. Ottawa. The Roughriders are happy to team up with the Regina Exhibition Association Limited (REAL) again this year to bring fans another exciting game-day experience. The 56th annual Labour Day Classic will be played on Sunday, September 6 at 5 p.m. This will be the first time since 2006 that the game has been played at that time. The Riders have won 14 of the last 15 Labour Day matchups and hold a 37-18 advantage through the first 55 meetings.

The Riders have back-to-back games at home in week four and five and again in week eight and nine. The Riders will play three consecutive away games on weeks 16, 17 and 18.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed national defensive back Shamar Busby and national running back Atlee Simon.

Busby (5’11 – 182 lbs) returns to the Roughriders after initially joining the Club in October of 2019 spending the preseason with the Ottawa Redblacks. The 23-year-old had a strong showing at the 2019 CFL combine, including a top-five performance in the broad jump and a top ten finish in the vertical jump. Prior to returning to Canada, Busby spent two years at Southeastern Louisiana University playing in 20 games recording 46 tackles, one tackle for loss and one forced fumble. He played his best game against Houston Baptist University where he made six tackles, helping the Lions beat the Huskies 62-52. Prior to attending Southeastern Louisiana, Busby was at the New Mexico Military Institute where he played in 20 games collecting 38 tackles and one forced fumble in two seasons.

Simon (5’10 – 199 lbs) also returns to the Green and White in 2020 after initially signing in October of 2019. Prior to being a Rider, Simon was selected in the sixth round of the 2018 CFL Draft by the Calgary Stampeders. Simon had a strong USPORTS career and was the star running back for the University of Regina Rams. His five-year collegiate career saw him become the school's all-time leader in rushing yards, rushing touchdowns, and touchdowns scored. Simon accumulated 3,295 rushing yards, 22 rushing touchdowns over his time at the U of R. Simon also caught 64 passes for 727 yards and nine touchdowns. His career total of 4134 all-purpose yards ranks second to former Roughrider fullback Neal Hughes in University of Regina history.
