Moose Jaw's Marie Wright will once again be representing Canada.

Curling Canada has announced that Marie will represent our country at the 2019 Wheelchair Curling World Championships. "It was pretty exciting when they made the announcement and we got to tell our friends and family," said Wright. "The first people I called were my kids!"

Wayne Kiel of Balgonie, will coach the team and says Marie will play a very important role. “We’re really excited about the composition of this team,” said Kiel. “The experience factor provided by Marie is crucial."

This won't be the first time Marie curls for Canada at the World Championships as her team finished 5th at the 2017 World Championships. This time though, Marie wants gold. "That's what our aim is. To bring home the gold!"

Marie and the rest of her team will be preparing for the championship with a camp here in Moose Jaw on February 12-14th. "They're going to be bringing in some other players for us to play against, so we'll be playing some exhibition games in my home rink. I'm very excited about that."

The 2019 World Wheelchair Curling Championships are set for March 3-10 in Scotland. Marie and Team Canada enter the World Championship ranked fourth in the world.

A fundraiser for the team will be held on Wednesday at Mosaic Place to assist with travel costs.
