The Central Cyclones advanced to the second round in the Championship Bracket on Friday at the annual SoccerFest girls soccer tournament here in Moose Jaw this weekend.

Central is one of three local teams, along with Peacock and Vanier, that are hosting 13 out-of-town teams this weekend.

The Cyclones opened the tournament with an 8-1 win over Balgonie Greenall on Friday morning, but they would lose 6-1 to Regina Campbell in the Championship Bracket quarterfinals in the afternoon.

Central will now play the Swift Current Ardens in the fourth place bracket at 10:45 a.m. at Smith Field.

The Tornadoes fell 8-0 to Regina O'Neill in their opening game and then dropped a 7-2 decision to Yorkton Regional in the Consolation Bracket quarterfinals.

Peacock will face off with Yorkton Sacred Heart on Saturday morning at 9 a.m.

The Spirits dropped an 11-0 game to Regina LeBoldus on Friday morning, but bounced back with a 2-0 win over Regina Sheldon Williams in the evening games to advance into the Consolation Bracket semifinals against Notre Dame on Saturday at 9 a.m.

The Championship Bracket semifinals will have Prince Albert Carlton going up against Regina O'Neill at Sunningdale Field and Regina Campbell taking on Regina LeBoldus at the Canada Games Field at 10:45 a.m. The final is set for 3:30 p.m. at Sunningdale Field.
