A franchise record is in the Moose Jaw Warriors' sights on Friday night when they play their final road game of the regular season in Swift Current.

The Warriors won their 23rd road game this season on Wednesday in Brandon, which tied the franchise record set last season.

"Being on last year's team, I thought we were pretty dominant all season, but [this season] I don't think any of us even knew we were close to the record, we're just playing as hard as we can on the road, trying to get points and it just happened," said Warriors goalie Adam Evanoff.

The 2017-18 Warriors won the Scotty Munro Trophy as regular season champions and were arguably the most dominant team in franchise history.

Coming into this season, expectations weren't high for the Warriors outside the organization, but tying this record shows just the type of season that they've been able to put together.

"Last year, we had a lot of star power and were expected to win, and this year, we didn't have that much going in but we pulled through as a team, so the accomplishment this year feels really good," said 19-year-old forward Justin Almeida.

Moose Jaw has been dominating away from Mosaic Place this season, posting a 23-8-2-0 record so far with a plus-31 goal differential compared to a 15-12-4-2 record at home with an even goal differential.

"We just play out of our comfort zone [on the road], you're in another team's rink, it's their kind of atmosphere, but we go in there and are always alert and ready, so that's something that we do well," said Almeida.

The road success could be a big benefit for the Warriors heading into the post-season where they won't have home-ice advantage in their first round series with the Saskatoon Blades.

Being able to excel in uncomfortable situations is what the playoffs is all about.

"It's good mentally that we've been having success on the road because playoffs are going to be that much harder," said Evanoff.

Almeida added, "Knowing that we're good on the road and comfortable on the road will help our confidence," he said.

With nothing left to play for in the standings, the Warriors will be focusing on their game as they close out the regular season with a home-and-home against the last place Broncos.

"We can't take them lightly, these games don't really mean anything point-wise but they're big games because they get us mentally ready for playoffs," said Almeida.

The Warriors are in Swift Current on Friday night and then they host the Broncos on Saturday at Mosaic Place. The Pre-Game Show is on the air on Country 100 at 6:40 p.m. both nights.
