It was a wild start to free agency in the Canadian Football League on Tuesday.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders missed the boat on three top quarterbacks with Mike Reilly moving to the B.C. Lions, Trevor Harris taking over for Reilly in Edmonton, and Bo-Levi Mitchell re-upping in Calgary.

Saskatchewan ended up bringing back Zach Collaros on a one-year contract.

The 30-year-old threw for 2,999 yards and nine touchdowns while posting a 10-4 record in his 14 starts with the Riders last season.

The Riders did make a big splash with a pair of signings, adding three-time CFL All-Star Micah Johnson and running back William Powell.

Johnson comes to Saskatchewan after spending six seasons with the Calgary Stampeders. The 30-year-old is considered one of the best interior linemen in the CFL, he has 165 defensive tackles, 41 quarterback sacks and 13 tackles for loss in 81 career regular-season games.

Last season, Johnson set a career-high with 14 sacks, while also winning his second Grey Cup with Calgary.

Powell signed a two-year contract with the Riders after four seasons with the Ottawa Redblacks. He's a two-time East Division All-Star and won a Grey Cup in 2016 with Ottawa.

The 30-year-old posted 1,362 rushing yards and six touchdowns on 251 carries in 16 games last season. He also added two receiving touchdowns.

Powell has 2,835 yards and 13 touchdowns in 35 career games.

Saskatchewan also signed international linebacker DyShawn Davis to a one-year contract. He's played for the Lions over the past three seasons, finishing fourth in the CFL with 22 special-teams tackles in 2018.

The Riders did lose a big name in free agency as All-Star defensive end Willie Jefferson headed to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on a one-year deal. Jefferson was the Riders’ Most Outstanding Player last season.
