Jeremy O'Day was just announced as the new General Manager of the Saskatchewan Roughriders on Friday afternoon, following a busy week of changes for the green and white.

Along with the new role, the former Rider O-lineman will also continue on as the team's Vice President of Football Operations.

He said he's ready for the challenge and has been preparing for the opportunity for some time.

"During the last 8 years, I've been like a sponge. I've been able to learn from not only the general managers (that are) here but also general managers around the league. I took great pride in trying to learn as much information as I could," explained O'Day. "I learned different styles of being a general manager; I looked at how teams build their rosters. I also looked at how people treated the other people in their organizations. I feel like I'm ready for this opportunity, Can't tell you how excited I am to get started with it."

The 44-year-old O’Day is entering his 21st season of consecutive service with the Roughriders.
