Earlier than ever before, we know who and when the Saskatchewan Roughriders will be playing in the 2018 season.

The Canadian Football League released the schedule for the 2018 season on Thursday, which will start two week earlier than normal.

“It is always exciting for football fans across the country when the schedule gets announced,” stated Riders President and CEO Craig Reynolds in a media release. “We have to give credit to the CFL office and teams across the league for working together to get the schedule released earlier than ever. This is never an easy task.”

The Riders will kick-off the new campaign on Friday, June 15 when they host the defending Grey Cup champion Toronto Argonauts in a rematch of the 2017 Eastern Final.  This will mark the seventh time in the last 10 seasons that the Riders have started the season on their home field.

Saskatchewan will play their first five games against the East Division before playing their next six against the West Division.

The first half will see the Riders play five home games and four away games and then the reverse in the back-nine of the season with four at home and five on the road.

The Calgary Stampeders will be making two trips to Saskatchewan this season, while the Riders will be heading to Winnipeg twice in 2018.

Saskatchewan and Winnipeg will meet in the 54th annual Labour Day Classic on Sunday, Sept. 2 at Mosaic Stadium and then the two sides will meet against the next Saturday in Winnipeg for the Banjo Bowl.

The Riders will play four Thursday night games, but only one at home.

Their three bye weeks fall on weeks five, nine and 21.

The preseason schedule will kick-off in May this year with the Riders travelling to Edmonton to face the Eskimos on Sunday, May 27 and the Riders will host Calgary on Friday, June 8 in their final regular season tune-up.
