A great run for the Prairie Hockey Academy Cougars came to an end on Tuesday at the Canadian Sport School Hockey League Championship in Penticton, B.C.

The Cougars lost 4-0 to the Shawnigan Lake School Stags in the Midget Varsity Division's championship game on Tuesday.

PHA and Shawnigan finished even in shots at 25-25, but the Cougars couldn't solve Stags goalie Aaron Trotter, who picked up the shutout in the win, which completed a perfect season for Shawnigan, going 28-0.

Nicholas Winchester, Rhys Dutcyvich and Alex Robins scored for Shawnigan over the first two periods to give them a 3-0 lead heading into the third. Riley Billy added an empty-net goal to seal the win.

PHA put together a great four days at the CSSHL Championship, beating the Okanagan Hockey Academy and Pursuit of Excellence Academy in the round robin before edging Pilot Mound Academy in the semi-final on Tuesday morning.

Overall, the Cougars went 18-9-1 during play in the CSSHL this season.

Coming up on Wednesday, the Cougars will open the Elite 15 Division Playoffs. PHA faces Rink Academy in their opening game on Wednesday morning at 9 a.m.
