The Moose Jaw Oilers put together a great run at the Medicine Hat Peewee 'B' Tournament over the weekend.

The Oilers won the 'A' side title with a 7-3 win over the Moose Jaw Spitfires in the final on Sunday.

Maguire Payne and Carter Fortin had two goals each, while Kasen Watterson picked up a goal and two points in the final for the Oilers as they captured the tournament title.

Logan Hawley and Jaxsen Patterson also scored in the win.

Javin Boynton, Benjamin King and Ben Rattee found the back of the net in the loss for the Spitfires.

The Oilers opened the tournament with an 8-7 win against the Airdrie Crush on Friday. On Saturday, they topped the Medicine Hat Knights, 9-6, in their first game and then battled the Medicine Hat Devils to a 5-5 tie in their second game.

The Oilers currently sit second in the Moose Jaw Minor Hockey League's Peewee B division with a 5-2-0 record. They return to the ice next Tuesday against the Blackhawks.

The Moose Jaw Bantam A Mavericks kicked off 2019 with a pair of wins over the weekend in the Saskatchewan Female Hockey League.

The Mavericks went into Lafleche and knocked off the Wood River Ice Cats, 7-2, on Friday night and then they travelled to Milestone on Sunday to pick-up a 15-0 win over the Flyers.

Janelle Evans had a hat trick and four points to lead the charge for the Mavericks on Friday, while Ellie Gauvin also picked up a goal and three points and Ember Dusomme finished with a goal and two points.

Keana Maclachlan and Sidney Ellingson also scored for Moose Jaw.

On Sunday, Jasmine Kohl posted two goals and seven points to pace the Mavericks in the blowout win. Gauvin and Ellingson had a hat trick and four points each, while Dusomme picked up two goals and five points.

Eowyn Stokes also had a hat trick in the win and Nikita Halyk finished with a goal and three points. Jadyn Palaschuk also scored for the Mavericks.

Moose Jaw improves to a perfect 18-0-0 this season thanks to the two wins. They're off until next Thursday when they host Wood River at the Bert Hunt Arena for a 7 p.m. puck drop.

In the Saskatchewan AA Hockey League, the Moose Jaw Bantam AA and Midget AA Warriors both hit the ice for games on Saturday and Sunday.

The Bantam AA Warriors lost 8-1 to the Saskatoon Maniacs on Saturday and then dropped an 8-0 game to the Warman Wildcats on Sunday.

Moose Jaw returns to the ice this Saturday to host the Saskatoon Outlaws at the Red Knight Arena. Puck drops at 1:15 p.m.

The Midget AA Warriors skated to a 9-2 loss to the Bruins in Estevan on Saturday and then they fell 11-0 to the Swift Current Broncos at the Red Knight Arena on Sunday.

The Warriors will play three games in four days this week, starting on Wednesday when they travel to Swift Current to take on the Broncos; they host the Notre Dame Hounds at the Bert Hunt Arena on Thursday at 7:15 p.m.; then travel to Weyburn on Saturday.

The Moose Jaw Bantam A Warriors hit the ice for a pair of games over the weekend.

The Warriors lost 5-1 to the Regina Buffaloes on Saturday and then fought the Prairie Storm Thunder to a 3-3 draw on Sunday in the Hockey Regina League.

Lucas Salikin scored the lone goal for Moose Jaw on Saturday, while Hayden Hudyma, Ashton Glova and Erik Tittemore found the back of the net during Sunday's game.

The Warriors host the Lumsden Lions on Tuesday night at the Kinsmen Arena. Puck drops at 7:15 p.m.

In other Hockey Regina League action on Friday, the Atom A Warriors lost 8-0 to the Regina Shamrocks, while the Midget A Warriors were roughed up 11-0 by the Regina Buffaloes.
