Two teammates from last year's provincial championship team squared off in the final of the 2019 Saskatchewan Tankard men’s curling championship in Whitewood on Sunday.

Saskatoon's Kirk Muyres knocked off Regina’s Matthew Dunstone, 6-5, in the final on Sunday.

The teams battled back-and-forth over the ten ends with Muyres scoring the winning points with a single in the tenth after blanking the ninth.

On the local side, Brock Montgomery and the Josh Heidt rink made it into the 'A' Event final before falling 8-6 to Team Muyres. They would eventually drop down into the 'C' Event and lose out to Team Deis, falling 6-4 on Saturday morning.

Ben Gamble and Team Howard had their run end on Friday afternoon with an 8-5 loss to Chadd McKenzie and Team Fell, who would then lose 8-5 to Team Kleiter on Saturday morning to also be eliminated from the tournament.

Derek Owens, Jason Ackerman and the Brent Gedak rink went 0-3 and lost out to Team Deis on Friday morning.

The 2019 Brier goes on Mar. 2-10 in Brandon.
