The Moose Jaw High School Junior Basketball League hit the court for three games on Monday night.

The Riverview/Cornerstone Royals scored a 75-57 win over the Peacock Orange Toilers in one of two junior boys games that hit the court.

Riley Marshall led all scorers with 42 points in the win for the Royals, while Raymond Tallud picked up 20 points.

The win puts Riverview/Cornerstone at 1-0 to start the year, while Peacock Orange falls to 0-1.

In the other boys game on Monday, the Assiniboia Rockets went into Vanier and topped the White Vikings, 60-40, to improve to 1-1 on the year.  Vanier falls to 0-1.

Derek Beaubien paced the Rockets’ offence with 19 points in the win, while Josh Martel added 13 and Isaac Harden picked up 11. On the losing side, Sam Moyse posted 13 points for the White Vikings, while Tyler Critchley and Blaize Baillie scored eight each.

In girls action on Monday, the Peacock Toilers rolled top a 101-22 win over the Assiniboia Rockets in the opening game of the season for both teams.

Caitlin Miller had 26 points to lead the way for Peacock, while Sadie Ward chipped in with 24 and Caitlyn Johnson posted 19 in the win. Assiniboia was led by Lakeda Peterson with 14 points, while Kayla Lethbridge finished with six points in the loss.

The junior basketball league is back on the court on Wednesday for four games.

The Moose Jaw High School Senior Basketball League returns to action on Tuesday for four games, including the Peacock Toilers hosting the Central Cyclones for an early season doubleheader.  The other games will see the Vanier Vikings and Spirits travel to Caronport to face the Cougars. The boys games tip-off at 6:20 p.m. followed by the boys games at 8 p.m.
