Brooklyn Nimegeers was dominating on the ice here in Saskatchewan all winter and now she's going to get an opportunity to show what she can do against some of the best in the world.

Nimegeers has been selected to play for the 14U Draft Day North American All-Star team -- joining players from Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Michigan, Tennessee and Kentucky -- at the World Select International Championship in Mont Blanc, France.

"I'm really excited and it's going to be a great opportunity," said Nimegeers.

The 13-year-old has put up some incredible numbers over the past season playing both male and female hockey, and this will serve as another chance to impress.

In just 10 games with the Moose Jaw Peewee Mavericks this season, Nimegeers posted an amazing 49 goals and 63 points as a defenceman. She added 21 goals and 30 points in seven playoff games as the Mavericks won the Saskatchewan Female Hockey League's South Championship.

Nimegeers also served as a captain for the Moose Jaw Peewee AA Warriors and posted four goals and 12 points in 25 games playing male hockey.

"It was a really fun year, the boys didn't do too good but the Mavericks won the whole league, and it was just really fun meeting new people and playing with all my friends on both teams," said Nimegeers.

Putting up the numbers that she does from a defenceman position is something that just comes naturally for Nimegeers.

"I used to play forward when I was little and I've really been practicing my shot a lot so that's really helped me get lots of points," she said. "I've been playing quite a bit of hockey and that's really helped me get better."

Playing on two teams is enough of a challenge for most and Nimegeers is hoping to face another challenge going against top players from across the globe.

"I've been playing boys AA pretty much my whole, it's been pretty hard, but it's been a great experience, so that hard work has helped me get to this point," she said.

The tournament opens on Wednesday with Nimegeers' Draft Day team taking on SHD Global and Italy Selects on the opening day of action. Click here for the full schedule and results.
