Moose Jaw's Hunter Morgan and Team Sask came ready straight out of the gates at the 2018 Football Canada Cup in Calgary, Alberta.

On Monday they suited up for a battle with team Manitoba, keeping a strong lead throughout the game.

At halftime Saskatchewan was leading Manitoba 27-0, and finished on a high note with a final score of 48-6.

Morgan, who is a linebacker, said despite coming out on top, it wasn't an easy win; the team had to be prepared for anything throughout the entire game.

"The biggest thing was just effort, because we don't really know what they were going to come out with, like no film or anything to study," said Morgan. "So we just had to go and give it our all and read and react to their plays."

Morgan along with his teammates know that it's not going to be an easy road, and they have an uphill battle heading into their next game.

"Going into Ontario now we have film to study what plays they did in their first game. We are just trying to get down all their formations and everything, all the keys to read the plays and they are going to be a lot better than team Manitoba, so we just have to focus up and have even better effort than our first game."

Morgan also noted it's that the experience itself has all been positive. Not only will they hope to keep this momentum going, but he said he's never been closer with the guys he's shoulder to shoulder with on the field.

"Being with your teammates all the time, like we are staying in dorms and you're with all of your buddies and we are getting closer to each other and starting to form a bond. I think it helps actually, because in our down time we can all hang out here and go over film or look at our play book."

The next game for Morgan and Team Saskatchewan is Thursday at 4pm, with a guaranteed shot at a medal.
