Moose Jaw's Brock Montgomery and Team Heidt put together a good second day at the 2019 Saskatchewan Tankard men's curling championship in Whitewood.

Team Heidt, which is skipped by Kerrobert's Josh Heidt, beat Team Jacobson, 8-4, to advance into the 'A' Event final.

It was their second win of the day after knocking off Team Virtue, 4-3, in the morning draw.

The Heidt rink will now go against Saskatoon's Kirk Muyres in the 'A' Event final at noon on Friday. A win there would secure a spot in the championship round for Team Heidt.

In other local action, Chadd McKenzie and Team Fell also won twice on Thursday, beating Team Deis, 6-4, and Team Comfort, 8-5, to move into the 'B' Event quarterfinals.

Team Fell will now face Team Kalthoff at noon on Friday.

Derek Owens, Jason Ackerman, and Team Gedak lost 10-3 in the afternoon draw on Thursday to drop into the 'C' Event where they will face Team Deis at 8 a.m. on Friday.

Ben Gamble and Team Howard lost 7-4 to Team Kendal on Thursday, which also puts them in the 'C' Event against Team Armstrong at 8 a.m. Friday.
