After an hour-and-a-half rain delay, the Moose Jaw Miller Express were unable to get out of the gate offensively in a 2-0 loss to the Swift Current 57s on Tuesday night at Mitchell Field.

The Millers were held to just two hits and their batters struck out 14 times in the loss, which dropped their record to 10-10 this season in the Western Canadian Baseball League.

Swift Current starter Zach Patterson allowed two hits and two walks while striking out 11 over eight innings. Logan Garza pitched a scoreless ninth inning to finish off the win.

Matt Jackson got the start for the Millers, allowing two runs -- one earned -- on three hits and two walks in five innings. He struck out four in the loss.

Nick Falco walked five and struck out three in his two innings pitched, while Tyler Sheridan allowed one hit and struck out one in the eighth.

Neither team picked up a hit until the fifth inning. Cole Warken led off the top half of the inning with a double, but he was stranded on second by the Millers.

Ryan Magdic led off the bottom of the fifth with a double for the 57s, but they didn't miss the chance as Toby Allred picked up an RBI-single and then Kiel Krumwiede scored on a single by Jack Large to plate the only two runs of the game.

The Millers will look to bounce back when they travel to Melville on Wednesday night. Moose Jaw returns to Ross Wells Park on Thursday to host the 57s in a rematch.

Coming up on Saturday, the Millers will be hosting a 1/2 rack ribs fundraising dinner at the Crushed Can. Tickets can be purchased from Millers' board members.
