The 2018 season for the Moose Jaw Miller Express is fast approaching with the first game just 30 days away.

With the season on the horizon, the Western Major Baseball League team is looking for some more billet families for the players that will be making their way to the Friendly City this season.

Jodie Hendry and her family of five have billeted a player for the past two seasons. She said the experience has been great.

"Both young guys that we've had were very friendly and very polite, they're smart kids, they're driven and they were really great role models for our children, we have three children at home, and they really looked up to the ball players," said Hendry.

The Miller Express bring in collegiate ball players from all over Canada and the United States to play over the summer months.

Hendry said her family had a great time getting to know the players -- Kobe Portillo and Pate Katechis -- and they really became a part of the family for the summer.

"They did become really close," she said. "I'm sure that my kids wanted to spend every minute with them, but they have games that are away and out of town.

"These boys were just great role models and we just couldn't have had a better experience."

In addition to welcoming them into their home, Hendry said it's also a lot of fun to head to the ball park throughout the summer and cheer the player and the Millers on.

"It's a great opportunity to get out and see baseball in downtown Moose Jaw," she said. "You get a pair of season tickets to be able to go out and watch the games and we've had two great summers filled with lots of great baseball."

Each billet family is also provided with $300 per player per month to help cover some of the costs that come with housing the player(s) for the summer.

If you're interested in becoming a billet, contact Rayleen Eberl with the Miller Express at 306-630-8459.

The Millers will open their 2018 season on May 31 against the Yorkton Cardinals at Ross Wells Park.
