The Moose Jaw Miller Express couldn't finish off the Swift Current 57s on Wednesday night.

Moose Jaw led 3-0 after the first inning and held a 4-2 advantage heading into the bottom of the ninth, but Swift Current mounted a comeback for a 5-4 win in 12 innings at Mitchell Field.

The loss drops the Millers' record to 17-14 this season, which has them two games ahead of the 57s for third place in the WMBL’s Eastern Division.

First baseman Scott Platt smacked his first home run of the season as part of a three-run first inning for the Millers. They added to that lead in the sixth when second baseman Blake Gallagher led off with a double and then scored on a sac-fly by outfielder Ty Schindel.

Swift Current finally got on the board in the bottom half of the inning as first baseman Bo McClintock hit a solo home run.

An RBI-double by Swift Current's Jered Binsfield cut Moose Jaw's lead down to 4-2 after seven.

The 57s didn't go away and they mounted a comeback in the ninth inning with two singles and two walks leading to two runs crossing home plate to tie the game up at 4-4 and send things to extra innings.

Moose Jaw loaded the bases in the top of the ninth inning with just one out, but they couldn't convert.

The Millers had another chance in the 12th inning, putting runners on first and second with two outs, but they came away empty handed again.

That would end up costing Moose Jaw as 57s shortstop Ethan Hunter would win the game with an RBI-single in the bottom half of the inning.

Millers starter Mitchell Robinson had a no-hitter going through four innings and ended up allowing two runs on five hits and two walks with seven strikeouts over seven innings in the no-decision.

Reliever Logan Hoffman took the loss, surrendering one run on one hit and three walks over 2 2/3 innings. He struck out three in the loss.

Gallagher had a big night at the plate, going 4-for-5 with two runs scored, while shortstop Ty Lightly was 2-for-5.

The Millers will now look to bounce back when they travel to Weyburn to take on the division-leading Beavers at Tom Laing Park on Thursday night. First pitch is 7 p.m.

Moose Jaw will host Weyburn on Friday night at Ross Wells Park.
