A goal in the final minute of regulation ended the Moose Jaw Warriors four-game winning streak as the Tri-City Americans pulled out a narrow 3-2 win at Mosaic Place.

Moose Jaw out-shot the Americans 22-4 in the third period, but it would be Tri-City that would come out on top on the back of 35 saves from goalie Evan Sarthou and two goals, including the winner, from Morgan Geekie.

The Warriors came flying out of the gates on Tuesday night and the Brett Howden line went to work on the opening shift of the game, eventually leading to the Captain scoring his 21st of the season just 37 seconds into the game.

Tri-City went right back at the Warriors and Regina's Carson Focht answered back just over 1:30 later to tie the game.

The goals were coming in bunches early and Moose Jaw was able to come back at the Americans just 1:02 after the Focht goal when Warriors' 16-year-old Luka Burzan fired in a bad angle shot to put Moose Jaw in front 2-1.

Despite the Americans getting a power play opportunity later in the period, the Warriors went into the break with a one-goal lead.

In the second period, the Warriors didn’t have the jump at the start that they had in the first, while Tri-City was aggressive inside the Moose Jaw zone and eventually found their way on to the power play.

For the majority of the penalty kill, the Warriors did a good job limiting the Americans’ chances, but with seven seconds left in the man-advantage, Geekie took a pass on top of the inside right circle and put a wrist shot past Zach Sawchenko to tie the game at two.

The third period pace was dominate by the Warriors as they were on the attack for the majority of the period, but weren’t able to sneak the puck past Sarthou and that eventually came back to bite them.

Tri-City waited for their moment and were able to catch a break with just 43 seconds left in regulation, as Morgan Geekie took a pass and drove through the middle of the ice and past the Warriors defence.  He was stopped on his initial shot, but converted on his own rebound for his second goal of the game that crushed the Warriors’ fans heart.

Moose Jaw was 0-for-3 on the power play and 2-for-3 on the penalty kill in their final game at Mosaic Place for three weeks.

The Warriors will leave on Wednesday and make the long trip west where they’ll open their season-high six-game road trip on Friday in Langley against the Vancouver Giants.  They play six games over ten nights during the road trip and will travel close to 4,500 kilometres.
