A 4-game in 5-day schedule for the Moose Jaw Warriors ended Saturday with a narrow 2-1 overtime loss to the Vancouver Giants at the Langley Events Centre.

In their only meeting of the season, the Warriors and Giants had great energy to start the game and played a heavy style as they battle along the boards and after the whistles.

Seven minutes into the game, WHL rookie scoring leader Brayden Tracey dumped the puck to the Vancouver end boards.  Giants goalie Trent Miner came out to play the puck to the left corner but Tracey hustled in on the fore-check and intercepted the puck.

Tracey then tossed the puck to the top of the Giants crease where it went off of Justin Almeida and bounced to Jett Woo inside the right circle where he put a wrist shot to the back of the net for his 9th of the season.

Playing 4-on-4 two minutes later, Giants import forward Milos Roman made a cross-ice pass from the left circle to the right side of the Warrior net where Bowen Byram tied the game at one.

The teams combined for five power plays in the opening period which included lengthy two-man advantages for both clubs, but the penalty kills were strong to keep the game tied at one.

In the second period, both teams continued to battle hard but opportunities were hard to come by as the teams buckled down defensively to keep the game tied at one.

Battles continued through the third period but neither team was able to finish the game in regulation.  Their best chances came on late power plays, however, this game would be decided in overtime.

Three minutes in to the extra period the Warriors had a breakdown inside their zone, Vancouver capitalized by setting up Davis Koch on the right side of the Moose Jaw net where he popped in the game winning goal.

Brodan Salmond was steady between the pipes making 25 saves in the overtime loss while on the other side of the ice Trent Miner made 26 in the win.

Moose Jaw was 0-for-6 on the power play and 4-for-4 on the penalty kill.

Through the first four games of the road trip the Warriors have posted a 3-0-1 record and captured seven of a possible eight points.

The Warriors wrap up the B.C. Division portion of their road trip Tuesday with a trip up to northern B.C. to take on the Prince George Cougars.  Catch all the action on Country 100 starting with the PreGame Show at 8:40pm with James Gallo.
