The season came to end with a bang for Cheer Infinity Athletics Moose Jaw over the past month. The team travelled all over the country to attend competitions and put together some strong performances along the way.

"It was an amazing season with all of our athletes and we're very proud of how it turned out for all of them," said Cheer Infinity coach Katie Marzolf.

"All of our teams reached their personal bests either at provincials or at nationals, so it was amazing to see them reach those goals."

Cheer Infinity sent their Interstellars and Supersonics teams to nationals at the start of April and they posted fifth and seventh place finishes, respectively, against the best competition that the country has to offer.

Marzolf said both handled themselves very well on the national stage, "National is such a different atmosphere than our Saskatchewan competitions, it's so much bigger and there's so many more teams to go up against, so having them go hit that stage and do absolutely amazing was something awesome to see as a coach," she said.

The club had six teams claim first place at Saskatchewan Provincial Championships in late March, while six others also hit the podium in second and third place.

They also had 13 top-five finishes at three other competitions over the course of March.

"At the beginning of the season, we have all our athletes set goals and as the season progresses, we talk through how we can achieve those goals, even with the little ones," said Marzolf. "We try to work with each athlete to achieve those goals."

The winning wasn't just done by the athletes on the mat, Marzolf also walked home with a big honour over the past month as she was named the Saskatchewan Cheerleading Association's Coach of the Year.

"Getting this award was amazing because it shows me that I achieved what I set out to do as a coach, which was to lead these athletes in a positive and fun environment while still getting the work done every practice, so it was awesome," said Marzolf.

The team will be hosting their year-end banquet coming up this weekend and then their spring programs start in May and June. Click here for more information.
