Brock Gould did everything he could for the Moose Jaw Warriors, making 58 saves to keep them in the game but unfortunately, they fell 2-1 in overtime to the Spokane Chiefs to open their 6-game road trip.

Spokane brought plenty of pressure throughout the opening period as they swarmed the Moose Jaw net.

Brock Gould was fantastic for the Warriors in the first period, he made 24 saves to keep the Chiefs off the board.

Moose Jaw picked up the game’s first goal just over three minutes into the period when Ryder Korczak led a rush across the Spokane line.

Korczak played the puck to the slot for Cade Hayes, who was able to get a shot away.  The puck sat loosely on the right side of the Spokane net where Chase Hartje pounced on it and scored his fifth of the season.

When the second period opened, the Warriors had a great moment early one to add to their lead when Bryden Kiesman broke in on James Porter on a breakaway but the Moose Jaw rookie was not able to get the puck over the pad of the Chiefs goalie.

Brock Gould was busy again in the second period as Spokane put another 20 shots on him in the period.  At 7:53, the Chiefs Graham Sward was able to join a rush and pick up a loose puck on the side of the Moose Jaw net to tie the game at one.

Spokane continued to pressure the Warriors inside their zone in the third period.  Moose Jaw gave up 14 shots but they did a good job keeping the Chiefs to the outside and they collapsed inside their home-plate to protect their goalie.

Brock Gould’s outstanding play continued in the third as he made another 14 saves to keep the game tied at one and force overtime.

34 seconds into the extra period, the Chiefs were able to create some open ice for Eli Zummack between the circles where he lifted a shot past Gould to end the game.

Brock Gould was the story of the game for the Warriors, making 58 saves.

The Warriors have Thursday off, their road trip continues Friday in Kennewick, Washington with a Valentine’s Day game against the Tri-City Americans.
