The Thunder Creek Archery Club returned from the 2018 Canadian 3D Archery Championship in Truro, Nova Scotia with some hardware.

Moose Jaw's Tyler Moore and Heather Leduc picked up gold medals in their respective divisions in a very strong performance for the local club.

"This nationals was the first of two qualifying events for Team Canada that will be heading to the 2019 3D Worlds, so Heather and I are sitting pretty good heading into next year’s second qualifying event," said Moore after the competition last weekend.

Moore claimed top spot in the male barebow division with a total score of 675, which put him 14 points ahead of Alan Hindle in second place.

Moore was coming off breaking a Canadian record a few weeks earlier at a field archery event in Regina. He said he's coming away very pleased with how he shot, "The first two days I had a couple of issues and I didn't shoot as good as should have, but I was able to have an excellent third round that put me in first place," he said.

Leduc came in first in the female barebow division, posting a total score of 680 to run away from the competition. Lana Perry finished in second place, 123 points behind Leduc.

"Heather shot awesome," said Moore. "Heather has put a lot of time in and she's been showing a lot of commitment and it showed, she shot really good this weekend and she put herself in a really good position to make Team Canada in 2019."

The next qualifying event for Team Canada will be the 2019 3D Nationals in Prince Albert next August. "Right after that, the team will be determined for the world championship, which will be held in September in Lac la Biche, Alberta," said Moore.

Chris Paulhaus from the local club also competed at nationals, picking up an eighth place finish in the male longbow division.

Members of the local club will now be heading to some 3D fun shoots around the province over the course of this month.
