The Moose Jaw Generals put together a dominating effort on Saturday night to snap their 12-game losing skid with a 7-1 win over the Yorkton Maulers.

Casey McDonald had two goals and five points to power the Generals to the win, while Evan Sare picked up two goals and three points.

The Generals came out of the gates firing with Ben Peterson scoring 2:58 into the game. Ben Wourms-Rowe followed that up 2:14 later to make it 2-0 for Moose Jaw.

Sare scored his first of the game on the power play to give the Generals a three-goal advantage after one.

McDonald and Sare scored 2:13 apart late in the second period to push Moose Jaw’s lead to 5-0.

McDonald scored a shorthanded goal just 46 seconds into the third period to continue to the dominating performance for the Generals.

Yorkton answered back with Austin Dycer scoring 4:05 into the third and then Generals captain Brendan Kemp finished off the onslaught with 7:23 to play.

The Generals outshot the Maulers, 43-28, with Reece Hodson making 27 saves in goal for the win.

Moose Jaw finished 2-for-6 on the power play while going 5-for-5 on the penalty kill.

The Generals and Maulers meet again on Sunday afternoon in Yorkton.
