After ending their 12-game losing skid with a lopsided win on Saturday, the Moose Jaw Generals came out on the losing end on Sunday, settling for a split of their two-game weekend in Yorkton.

The Generals lost 4-3 in a shootout against the Maulers on Sunday in Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League action.

Casey McDonald potted a natural hat trick for Moose Jaw, scoring twice in the first period and then again early in the second period as the Generals built up a 3-0 lead on the Maulers.

Yorkton was able to get on the board with a power-play goal from Josh Peppler late in the second period and then Garrett Ellis and Jesse Swanson scored in the opening 10 minutes of the third to tie the game.

The Generals outshot the Maulers, 4-2, in overtime, but neither team could find the back of the net, sending the game to a shootout. Peppler scored the lone goal in the skills competition to give Yorkton the win.

Jaxson Taupert made 18 saves in the loss for the Generals.

Moose Jaw outshot Yorkton 32-21 in the loss.

The Generals will return to the ice on Wednesday when they travel to Regina to face-off with the Pat Canadians. Puck drops at 8 p.m.
