The Moose Jaw Generals didn't find much success on home ice over the weekend as they dropped a pair of games at Mosaic Place.

The Generals opened the weekend with a 4-1 loss to the Yorkton Maulers on Saturday afternoon and then followed that up with a 6-0 loss to the Prince Albert Mintos on Sunday.

The two losses put the Generals' record at 7-16-1-2 this season in the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League.

Moose Jaw will close out their pre-Christmas schedule with a trip to Swift Current on Saturday and a home game against the Beardy's Blackhawks on Sunday.

Yorkton 4 Generals 1

A slow start cost the Generals on Saturday as they fell behind 2-0 in the opening eight minutes against the Maulers and could never get momentum on their side.

Josh Peppler opened the scoring for Yorkton just 1:36 into the game and then Troy Bryksa added to the lead at 7:17 of the first period.

Moose Jaw gained some momentum when Ben Wourms-Rowe scored a power-play goal 2:37 into the second period, but Yorkton quickly answered with a goal from Anthony Roebuck only 47 seconds later.

Yorkton added an empty-net goal from Carter Dereniwsky with 1:51 to play to seal the win.

Generals goalie Reece Hodson turned away 22 shots in the loss, while Moose Jaw outshot Yorkton, 36-26.

Prince Albert 6 Generals 0

Penalties sunk the Generals on Sunday afternoon against the Mintos as they gave up four power-play goals in the shutout loss.

Gabe Klassen gave the Mintos a 1-0 lead after one on a late goal.

Alex Ozar scored a power-play goal 7:22 into the second period, Logan Cox followed that up 4:02 later and then Klassen scored his second of the game, on the power play, with 40 seconds left in the frame.

Prince Albert's power play struck again in the third period with goals from Andrew Schaab and Klassen, who finished off his hat trick.

The Generals outshot the Mintos, 30-29, with Jaxson Taupert making 23 saves in the loss.
