Moose Jaw’s power-play drove the Warriors to a 4-1 win over the Lethbridge Hurricanes Friday in Alberta.

Throughout the opening period, the Warriors did a good job stepping into lanes inside the Lethbridge zone, taking away exit passes and turning into turnovers and extra attack time.

At 13:05, Jagger Firkus broke up a Hurricane pass inside the Lethbridge zone.  The 17-year-old then grabbed the puck and skated to the right faceoff dot, where he then snapped a shot over the glove of goalie Bryan Thomson, his fourth goal of the year gave Moose Jaw a 1-0 lead.

After killing a Lethbridge power-play to start the second period, the Warriors found themselves on the man-advantage.

Five and a half minutes into the period, Brayden Yager took a shot between the circles.  The rebound came to Firkus along the right goal line, the Irma, Alberta product then ricocheted the puck off the left pad of the goalie and to the back of the net for his second goal of the game.

Lethbridge finally responded when Noah Boyko scored a power-play goal at 11:35 to make it a one-goal game.

Rolling in the third period, the Warriors picked up another power-play past the six-minute mark.

Denton Mateychuk had the puck in the left circle and then made a cross-ice pass to the right side of the Lethbridge net where Firkus knocked in his hat-trick goal to make it 3-1.

Back on the power-play at 13:29, the Warriors put the game out of reach after Eric Alarie scored his third goal of the season.

Jagger Firkus’ hat-trick led the Warriors' offence and was the first three-goal game of his career, while in net, Carl Tetachuk made 29 saves to beat his former team in his hometown.

Moose Jaw finished 3-for-7 on the power-play and was 4-for-5 on the penalty kill.

Moose Jaw’s weekend in Alberta ends on Saturday with a trip to Medicine Hat.  The Warriors edged the Tigers 4-3 in overtime last week at Mosaic Place.
