Jagger Firkus and Denton Mateychuk moved one step closer to hearing their names called in the 2022 NHL Draft on Thursday.

The two Moose Jaw Warriors were ranked in the top-15 of the NHL Central Scouting’s final rankings.

After being ranked 33rd among North American skaters in the midterm rankings, Firkus rose all the way to 12th in the final rankings before the draft in July.

Firkus led the Warriors with 36 goals and 80 points in 66 games during the regular season.

He was named the Player of the Game for Team White at the 2022 CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game after posting a goal and two points.

Mateychuk came in at 14th in the final rankings after being ranked ninth in the midterm rankings.

The 17-year-old was one of the highest scoring defencemen in the Western Hockey League this season with 13 goals and 64 points in 65 games this season.

The 2022 NHL Draft will be held in Montreal on July 7-8.
