The Briercrest Clippers men’s and women’s volleyball teams are heading into their respective holiday breaks on a high note.

The Clippers’ men’s team cruised to two straight set wins over the Olds College Broncos, while the women’s squad extended their winning streak to 12 games with a pair of four-set wins over the Broncos in Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference action over the weekend.

The men opened the weekend by rolling past the Broncos in three sets (25-20, 25-20, 25-12) on Friday.  They did the same thing on Saturday with another three set win (25-21, 25-13, 25-20).

The two wins put the Clippers’ record at 9-5, which is good enough for third place in the South Division.

On the women’s side, the Clippers won in four sets (25-9, 22-25, 25-13, 25-12) on Friday.  They then dropped the first set, 25-19, on Saturday before cruising over the final three sets (25-22, 25-15, 25-15) to secure the win.

The Clippers are now 13-1 overall in league play, which puts them eight points ahead of second place Red Deer College in the South Division.

The women’s team will head to Edmonton on Jan. 4 for an exhibition game against the NAIT Ooks.  Both teams return to conference play on Jan. 12-13 at Medicine Hat College against the Rattlers.
