The Moose Jaw Peewee AA Warriors scored a big win in Swift Current on Wednesday night, beating the Broncos, 4-1, in the South Saskatchewan Minor Hockey League.

After a scoreless first period, the Warriors went to work in the middle frame, starting with a power play goal from Caleb Newkirk 3:31 into the second.

Liam Fitzpatrick made it 2-0 for Moose Jaw when he scored just over nine minutes later. Connor Choo answered for Swift Current, potting a power play goal with 3:09 to go in the second, but the Warriors were able to restore their two-goal lead with 1:05 remaining when Brendan Gerbrandt found the back of the net.

The Warriors held off the Broncos for the rest of the game and Rowan Calvert sealed the game when he scored with 11 seconds left in the game.

Goalie Brady Bourdeau picked up the win in net for Moose Jaw.

The Warriors improve to 5-13-2 on the year with the win, which moves them eight points back of the Broncos for third place in the league with five games remaining in the regular season.

Moose Jaw returns to the ice on Friday night when they host the Broncos for a rematch at the Red Knight Arena, puck drops at 7:15 p.m.

There’s a few minor hockey teams on the ice coming up on Thursday with the Midget AA Warriors in Regina to face the Capitals at 8:15 p.m. and the Bantam A Warriors hosting the Southey Marlins at 7:15 p.m. at the Bert Hunt.
