The Original 16 Cash League took over at the Moose Jaw Ford Curling Centre on Wednesday for their weekly eight-game slate.

The Penny Barker rink continues to reign supreme in the league as they moved into sole possession of first place with an 8-1 record after picking up a 7-2 win over the Wade Gray rink (3-7).

It was a tight game in the early game with Gray scoring one in the first, but Barker took control after that, scoring one in the second and then stealing one in the third and two in the fourth.

Gray scored one in the fifth to cut the lead down to 4-2, but Barker responded with a three-spot in the sixth to seal the win.

There’s a logjam for second place in the league with Joel Jordison, Ryan Wenarchuk, Warren Marcotte and Stan Barnsley all sitting at 7-2.

Jordison pulled out a big 6-4 win over Wenarchuk on Wednesday, scoring three in the fourth to take a 5-2 lead and never looking back.

Marcotte scored four in the first end and four more in the seventh as he rolled to a 10-3 win over Lorraine Arguin (5-4).

Barnsley’s rink won a back-and-forth battle with Ralph Courtnage (4-5), scoring two in the seventh to take a 5-3 victory.

In other action, Ben Gamble (4-5) won 6-4 over Joe Gunnis (3-6); Bob Desjarlais (6-3) held on for a 6-5 win over Donna Ackerman (3-6); Patrick Ackerman (2-7) secured an 8-5 victory over Barb Wallace (2-8); and Murray Stroeder (5-5) knocked off Shaunna Fritzler (1-8), 9-6.

The league hits the pebbled ice every Wednesday in downtown Moose Jaw.
