Kaitlyn Gilroy had two goals and four points to lead the Moose Jaw Bantam A Mavericks to an 8-3 win over the Balcarres Baracudas on Thursday night.

The Mavericks are riding an eight-game winning streak as they sit at 22-2-1 on the year in the South Saskatchewan Female Hockey League.

Keara Merriman scored twice in the first period, while Nikita Halyk also found the back of the net to help the Mavericks jump out to a 3-0 lead. Merriman and Halyk scored 15 seconds apart in the opening three minutes of the game.

Makayla Anderson made it 4-0 for the Mavericks early in the second period and then Moose Jaw added four more goals in the third period, including a pair from Gilroy, to seal the win.

Sidney Ellingson scored in the third period and finished with three points for Moose Jaw, while Madeline Bray had the other third period marker.

The Mavericks will finish off their regular season on Saturday night when they host the Regina Tigers at the Bert Hunt Arena. Puck drops at 5:15 p.m.

In other minor hockey action on Thursday, the Midget A Warriors dropped a 5-0 game to the Notre Dame Argos at Bert Hunt.
