The Bantam A South Division Final series between the Moose Jaw Mavericks and Parkland Fire has been a classic through two games.

The two teams have combined to play ten periods of hockey while splitting the two opening games of the Saskatchewan Female Hockey League's best-of-three series.

Jasmine Kohl scored the double-overtime winner for the Mavericks to edge the Fire, 2-1, in Game 1 on Friday night at the Red Knight Arena. Ellie Gauvin had the other goal for the Mavericks, opening the scoring 1:35 into the third period.

In Game 2 on Sunday, Alyssa Rasmuson was the overtime hero for Parkland as they secured a 4-3 double-overtime win over Moose Jaw in Melville.

Jaydn Palaschuk opened the scoring for the Mavericks with the lone goal in the first period, but the Fire scored three times in the second period to take a two-goal lead.

Sidney Ellingson pulled the Mavericks within one, scoring with 7:45 left in regulation, and then Eowyn Stokes tied the game for Moose Jaw with just 32 seconds to play in the third.

The two teams will now meet for Game 3 on Sunday, 1:30 pm, at the Red Knight Arena.

The Moose Jaw Peewee Mavericks dropped Game 1 of their South Division Semi-Final series, 7-3, to the Southwest Cyclones on Sunday.

Brooklyn Nimegeers and Jesse Mielke scored for the Mavericks during a back-and-forth first period, but the Cyclones held a 3-2 lead heading into the second.

Moose Jaw tied the game with a goal from Brooklyn Hrynkiw 7:20 into the second period. It was all Southwest after that, however, as they scored three times in the second and added another goal in the third to seal the win.

The Mavericks and Cyclones face-off in Game 2 on Monday night at the Red Knight Arena. Puck drops at 7:30 p.m.

Also on Saturday night, the Wood River Ice Cats knocked off the Regina Renegades, 5-0, in Game 1 of the Midget A South Division Final series. The Ice Cats feature six players from Moose Jaw.

The Moose Jaw Peewee A Warriors advanced into the SHA Peewee AA Tier II Provincial Final with a big win on Saturday.

The Warriors won 4-2 over the Regina Tigers in the Queen City to take their two-game total point semi-final series, 10-4.

The other provincial semi-final series has Prince Albert leading Saskatoon, 5-3.

The Warriors will open their Hockey Regina League playoffs next week.

In other provincial action on Saturday, the Moose Jaw Oilers lost 9-0 to Saskatoon in the Bantam AA Tier III provincial semi-final series. They meet for the second game of the series on Saturday in Moose Jaw.

The Moose Jaw Atom A Warriors finished their regular season on Sunday with a 6-5 loss to the Regina Royals at the Red Knight Arena.

The Warriors posted an 8-14-0 record during the season to finish in tenth place.

The playoffs open on Sunday.
