After losing for just the second time this season last Friday, the Moose Jaw Bantam A Mavericks were able to find their way back into the win column on Tuesday in the South Saskatchewan Female Hockey League.

Three third period goals powered the Mavericks to a 4-1 win over the Regina Tigers at the Cooperators Centre.

Moose Jaw’s Ember DuSomme opened the scoring with a power play goal just 7:56 into the game.

The score remained that way until the final seconds of the second period when Emma Kowal got Regina on the board, scoring with 11 seconds left in the frame.

The Mavericks were able to take over in the third period to skate to the win.

Nikita Halyk scored twice, the first coming 7:06 into the third to put the Mavericks in front for good. Sidney Ellingson made it 3-1 with a power play goal midway through the period and Halyk’s second finished off the win with 6:13 to go.

Moose Jaw fired 63 shots on the net in the win, while Sydnee Christmann was forced to make just 14 saves for the victory.

The Mavericks improve to a league-best 15-2-1 on the year. They’re back on the ice on Sunday to face the Swift Current Colts, puck drops at 6:15 p.m. at the Credit Union Iplex.
