Moose Jaw's Skylar Ackerman and her team will be playing for a spot at the 2019 Canada Winter Games on Sunday.

Team Ackerman scored three in the eighth end to pull off an 8-6 win over Emily Haupstein in the semi-final on Saturday night to advance into Sunday's final at the provincial curling trials in North Battleford.

Ackerman finished off the round robin on Saturday morning with a 6-2 win over Taylor Stremick, which gave the local curler a 4-1 record and a spot in the semi-final.

The semi-final saw both teams have moments of control. They traded deuces to open the game in the first two sets and then Ackerman moved in front thanks to back-to-back singles, making it 4-2 after four.

Haupstein and Ackerman traded singles in the fifth and sixth ends, giving Ackerman a 5-3 advantage, but Haupstein was able to come all the way back in the seventh with a big three-ender.

With the hammer in the eighth and trailing by one, Ackerman put together a big end of her own, scoring three to take the win and advance into the final.

The Ackerman rink, which also includes third Madison Johnson, second Chantel Hoag, and lead Samantha McLaren, will go up against Madison Kleiter in the final. Kleiter beat Ackerman 7-4 in the opening game of the round robin on Thursday.

The two teams hit the ice at 11 a.m. on Sunday morning with the winner securing a spot at the 2019 Canada Winter Games in Red Deer.
