Moose Jaw's Skylar Ackerman put together a dominating performance in her opening game at the 2019 Saskatchewan Under-18 Curling Championship in Regina.

Team Ackerman rolled to a 9-2 won over Saltcoats' Jessica Farquharson to kick-off the provincial championship.

Ackerman needed only four ends to pull off the win, scoring four in the first, two in the second and three in the fourth.

The Ackerman rink will be back on the ice against Martensville's Amy Remeshylo in the 'A' Event semi-final at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The 'A' Final is Friday at 8:30 p.m.

On the men's side, Team Philipchuk out of Moose Jaw lost 6-2 to Saskatoon's Daymond Bernath in their opening game on Thursday.

The Jake Philipchuk team gave up a three-ender in the first and couldn't fight their way back in the loss.

The local team returns to the ice against Prince Albert's Bryden Tessier on Friday morning at 9 a.m.
