After dropping their season opener to the Regina Blue Jays the Moose Jaw 11U AAA Canucks have pulled off 3 consecutive wins against Weyburn, Estevan and Regina Expos.

“It’s been a fun start to the season,” says Head Coach Shane Sowden. “We have a great group of kids who are improving every week. The goal is to get better each week and have fun and so far we are accomplishing that goal.”

Regina Blue Jays defeat Canucks 16-9

In the season opener, the Canucks were a little nervous committing numerous errors in the field before settling down in the last couple of innings putting up 6 runs in the final inning. Dalton Stephens, Cruz Schwabe, Isaiah Ross, Will Funston and David Choe all reached base twice with Choe providing the team's first home run of the season in the bottom of the 6th. Lucas Lind took the loss on the mound.

Canucks defeat Weyburn 14-11

David Choe got the start on the mound and was strong over 4 1/3 innings. After a rocky first inning which saw Weyburn score three runs, Choe settled down nicely and didn’t allow any more runs during the remainder of his outing. Hudson Sowden came on in relief to record the final two outs of the 5th and Miles Winter pitched the 6th inning.

Lucas Lind had a triple while Dalton Stephens, Cruz Schwabe and Brady Wilcox all had doubles.

Canucks defeat Estevan 19-2

Every Canuck player reached base in this lop-sided affair. Lucas Lind hit his first home run of the season and added a single to lead the way offensively. Dalton Stephens had a double and a triple. Will Funston had a triple and a single. Houston Hillmer and Daniel Choe each added two singles. Isaiah Ross reached base three times in the win.

Hudson Sowden got the start on the mound and was strong allowing 2 runs in 4 innings of work striking out 7.

Canucks defeat Regina Expos 4-2

The Canucks prevailed in a pitcher’s duel as Lucas Lind got the start on the mound. Lind was outstanding on the mound in his 5 1/3 innings striking out a whopping 16 batters while only allowing 3 base runners all night. Cruz Schwabe came on in relief to record the last two outs of the game to earn the save.

Miles Winter was the offensive hero on the night scoring the eventual winning run in the top of the 3rd and cashing in Brady Wilcox and Dalton Stephens with a two run single in the bottom of the 5th. Wilcox was 2 for 2 on the evening with 2 singles.
