Loretta Wright

May 16, 1936-October 15, 2017

Loretta passed away Sunday, October 15, 2017, in Moose Jaw, at the age of 81 years. She was born on May 16, 1936 in Canuck, SK; the ninth child of Magnus Valgaard and Mary Stephanson. Loretta met and married Edmund “Ted” Wright in 1957. She spent most of her career at the SGI Motor License Department and worked there until her retirement in 1996, after 31 years. Loretta was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and the Moose Jaw Scandinavian Club. Loretta is survived by her sons, Duncan Cameron Wright (Betty) of Moose Jaw, SK and Barry Thomas Wright (Rhonda) of Cranbrook, BC; her grandchildren, Karrie (Rick) Adrian of Moose Jaw, SK, Kori (Fergal) Kearney of Moose Jaw, SK, Caley (Richard) Howard of Wichita, Kansas, Kelly (Frank) Oliver of Wainwright, AB, Bradley (Laura) Wright of Cranbrook, BC; her 15 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild; her siblings, Glen (Margaret) Stephanson of Ponoka, AB, Sylvia Stephansonof Moose Jaw, SK, Gail (Herb) Smith of Moose Jaw, SK,  Sharon Grant of Moose Jaw, SK, and Karen (Larry) Ireland of Moose Jaw, SK; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, Magnus and Mary Stephanson; her husband, Edmund “Ted” Wright; her siblings, Earl Stephanson, William Stephanson, Marie Campbell, Shirley Anderson, Robert Stephanson, Ralph Stephanson, Roy Stephanson, and GaryStephanson. A Service of Remembrance will take place Friday, October 20, 2017 at 1:30PM in the W. J. Jones Chapel (106 Athabasca St. E. Moose Jaw, SK). Della Ferguson will Officiate. Interment will take place at Sunset Cemetery following the service. Loretta’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Dautremont, Pioneer Lodge; and especially to Extendicare for the special care given in her last few days; as well as Caleb Village for making her home the last three years very special and being a part of her family. In lieu of flowers Memorial Donations can be made to a charity of choice. In living memory of Loretta, a memorial tree planting will be made by JONES Funeral Home.
