Austin Dale McDermit

Austin passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home in Regina on Monday, February 4th, 2019, at the age of 33. He leaves to mourn his love and best friend Rebecca Anthony, his precious daughter Kate as well as Jacklyn Anthony. He was the beloved son of Gordon and Karen McDermit, cherished brother of Jeryd, Leanne and Heather Stewart (Brett) and loving uncle to Kallie and Emma Stewart.  He will be greatly missed by his grandparents Dorothy McDermit, Ted Pascoe and Mae Pascoe.  He was predeceased by his grandfather Bill McDermit and grandmother Marj Pascoe.  He was the cherished nephew of Sharon Brown (Bart), Sandra McDermit, Garry McDermit (Cheryl), Don McDermit, Glen Pascoe and Judy Pascoe. He will be greatly missed by numerous cousins and friends. Austin was born in Moose Jaw, SK, on September 18, 1985 to Gord and Karen McDermit.  He was raised on the family farm near Ormiston SK, and attended Crane Valley School.  He moved to Calgary for a brief time before settling back in Saskatchewan, where he framed and farmed and made many friends.  After farming he moved to Regina to pursue other interests and in 2017 he met Rebecca Anthony and began a family with her with the birth of Kate on September 4, 2018.  He loved sitting down and visiting with people over a cup of coffee. His gentle and humble nature made it very enjoyable to be around him.  His focus changed after the birth of Kate and it was amazing to see Austin as a father.  Over the last few years, Austin developed and struggled with having a seizure disorder which put him through many difficult experiences. A Funeral Service in memory of Austin will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Parkview Funeral Chapel, 474 Hochelaga St W, Moose Jaw, followed by an interment at Rosedale Cemetery.  In living memory of Austin a memorial planting will be made by Jones-Parkview Funeral Services.
